Late exclusive丨Ningde era mass production of lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries in the second half of the year

首页    热点新闻排行榜    Late exclusive丨Ningde era mass production of lithium manganese iron phosphate batteries in the second half of the year

Since last year, a major change in the power battery market is that the proportion of lithium iron phosphate batteries in cars has exceeded that of ternary lithium batteries. Along the line of lithium iron phosphate technology, major battery manufacturers are developing a new generation of products, one direction is lithium iron manganese phosphate battery.

"Late Auto" exclusively learned that ningde Times, Xinwanda and Eva Lithium energy's ferromangan-phosphate lithium batteries have passed the pilot battery test in the first half of this year, and are sending samples to car manufacturers for testing. Nyeongdeok Times plans to mass-produce the product in the second half of this year. Byd's Fodi battery began small purchases of lithium ferromangopho4 at the beginning of this year and is currently in internal development.

In June this year, Gukheon Technology announced a patent related to ferromanganese phosphate lithium battery. A person close to Guoxuan Hi-tech told Late Auto that at present, Guoxuan's lithium ferro manganese phosphate battery is still in the technical reserve stage, and there is no clear plan for mass production.

Companies are investing in lithium ferromanganese phosphate because it has a higher energy density than lithium ferromanganese phosphate batteries. Energy density is a key indicator to determine range.

Looking back at the development history of power batteries, the fortunes of the two main power batteries -- lithium iron phosphate and ternary lithium batteries -- have been reversed several times around the range.

Lithium iron phosphate battery is the initial mainstream products, since 2006 began to enter the field of power battery BYD is good at this route, before 2017, BYD has been China's first installed power battery manufacturer.

In 2017, The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China adjusted the new energy subsidy policy, and the higher the mileage, the more subsidies. This increases the share of ternary lithium batteries with higher energy density and longer range. Ningde times took its bet on ternary lithium batteries to overtake BYD as China's no. 1 in 2017 and remains so far. However, with the technological iteration, the battery range of lithium iron phosphate battery is gradually improved. Relying on the cost advantage, it will surpass terpolymer lithium battery again in 2021, accounting for 51.2% of the domestic market, and only 38.3% in 2020.

The optimization of lithium ferromanganese phosphate battery still focuses on the range. The theoretical energy density of lithium ferrimanganese phosphate batteries is up to 230Wh/Kg, which is 15%-20% higher than lithium iron phosphate batteries. There is almost no difference in material cost between the two batteries. In addition to new energy vehicles, the technology can also be applied to energy storage.

Lithium ferromanganese phosphate batteries are not a new technology. A battery material supplier told Late Auto that BYD started research in 2013, but stopped the development in 2016 due to the low cycle life and high internal resistance of the lithium ferro manganese phosphate battery at the time.

At present, Ningde Times and other companies choose to doping terpolymer lithium material in lithium ferromanganese phosphate material to solve the problem of low battery life and large internal resistance, which is the "M3P battery" mentioned by Zeng Yuqun, chairman of Ningde Times in a fixed-increase financing road show in February this year.

In December, Ningde Times invested 413 million yuan to become the largest shareholder of Litai Lithium Energy, a manufacturer of lithium ferromanganese phosphate materials, which is building new capacity.

Lithium ferromangan-phosphate batteries entered the two-wheeler market last year, and Tianeng Power's lithium ferromangan-phosphate batteries have been used by Niu Electric's F0 series.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk said in March that the company was bullish about adding manganese to batteries. The power battery industry believes that the lithium ferromanganese phosphate battery is the product with the greatest commercial potential in this line
